RARE GEORGIAN SOLID SILVER SNUFF BOX THOMAS SPICER BIRMINGHAM 1824

This delightful English solid silver rare snuff box was crafted during the Georgian Era by silversmith Thomas Spicer in Birmingham 1824. Featuring a classic Georgian design, all surfaces have a reeded engine turned design. On opening the stunning reeded lid to reveal a magnificent fully gilt gold interior with semi-reflective appearance.
The construction quality of this snuff box presents a high degree of precision and despite its compact size, in hand, a sturdy trust-worthy feel is apparent.
The wonderful 196 year old snuff box is in good condition with the lid and hinge functioning flawlessly with a smooth hinge and solid fit upon closure. The snuff box is fully hallmarked to the inside base and lid with the makers mark “T.S”, silver lion, Birmingham anchor, Georgian head and the date mark “A” for 1824.
The quality of the craftsmanship is superb, this would have once belonged to a very wealthy Georgian family and sat pride of place on their table, this was many many years ago when times were so very different, if this snuff box could talk I can just imagine what fascinating stories it could tell, this snuff box is so very tactile and once held it has the most wonderful feel. This will add something very special to any collection.

In good condition free from dings splits or repairs, looks like the monogram has worn but otherwise excellent for its age.
