RARE GEORGIAN SOLID SILVER SNUFF BOX JOSEPH WILMORE BIRMINGHAM 1810
DESCRIPTION AND DETAILS
This English solid silver rare snuff box was made during the Georgian Era by silversmith Joseph Wilmore in Birmingham 1810. Featuring a classic Georgian design, The interior is fully gilt in gold with semi-reflective appearance.
The construction quality of this snuff box presents a high degree of precision and despite its compact size, in hand, a sturdy trust-worthy feel is apparent.
The wonderful 210 year old snuff box is in good condition with the lid and hinge functioning flawlessly with a smooth hinge and solid fit upon closure. The snuff box is fully hallmarked with the makers mark “JW”, silver lion, Birmingham anchor, Georgian head and the date mark “M” for 1810.
The quality of the craftsmanship is superb, this would have once belonged to a very wealthy Georgian family member, this was many many years ago when times were so very different, if this snuff box could talk I can just imagine what fascinating stories it could tell, this snuff box is so very tactile and once held it has the most wonderful feel. This will add something very special to any collection.

In fair condition with the normal amount of surface wear and free from splits or repairs the lid and hinge functioning flawlessly with a solid fit upon closure. The snuff box has a few small dings but otherwise in reasonable condition for its age, that being said this doesn't detract at all from its rare beauty, just mentioned for accuracy.
All Antique silver items will show some signs of wear, which only add to the history of the object.
