RARE 18th CENTURY GEORGIAN FAUX TORTOISESHELL INLAID WITH GOLD SNUFF BOX C 1800
This is a classic George III Navette shaped gold and faux tortoiseshell snuff box from the Georgian period.
It has a gold hinge together with a gold flush mounted Cartouche in the centre of the lid which has been monogrammed with the inscription
R J M
It is a beautifully crafted item which is curved form to enable it to fit into the pocket easily. With its gold attachments it must have been an expensive item to own at the time.
The Snuff Box has outstanding character & charming appearance, own a piece of history of over 200 years old.
Very good hinge and snug closing lid.
