18TH CENTURY GEORGIAN Faux TORTOISESHELL & SOLID SILVER ETUI CASE
This is a Stunning 18th Century Georgian Solid Silver & Faux Tortoiseshell Silver Etui , this I believe was crafted c1760 to 1780 it is a Classic Georgian style of this Georgian period, making it over 200 years old, there is no hallmarks but it does test Solid Silver, it has a Beautiful Shape to the Faux Tortoiseshell case with the most Stunning Beautiful Silver intricate banding around the centre of the lid
The colours of the faux Tortoiseshell dance with deep rich browns and oranges, its stunning, the quality of the craftsmanship is breath-taking.
The Silver Button to the side that opens the Lid is missing, and the Hinge and Lid are loose.
In Georgian times, etuis - word of French origin - were very popular, they came in a myriad of shapes and sizes, usually ornamental cases for holding articles such as needles, scent bottles and personal items.
