We are pleased to offer this intricately designed French Silver Snuff Box

This Stunning French Silver Snuff box I believe was crafted in France C 1768 -1775

This really is delightful table snuff box with the most amazing detail all around the body of the box

The Snuff box has a wonderful ornate scalloped outer bombe design and is decorated with “engine turned” decoration with bold cartouche on both the top and bottom, the top cartouche is inscribed, the bottom  cartouche has not been monogrammed, the cartouche on the top of the box is framed with the most striking scroll pattern edging design.

It has a fully gilt interior that pleasantly contrast the brilliant silver tone on the exterior in addition to providing a layer of protection from the silver reacting with the contents inside the box.

The hinge and the close of the box are flawless and the craftsmanship of the box boasts of a high quality design and feel.

Table snuff boxes are larger in all dimensions with a sturdy weight to ensure it does not fall over easily when placed on a surface. This type of snuff box were found in communal halls, large houses even official buildings such as a parliament.

The size and the decoration of the snuff box would symbolise the wealth of the house/owner and upon gatherings, the box would be passed around as each person would take a pinch of snuff from the box.

This Box is so very tactile and once held has the most wonderful feel.

This is a truly quality example of a fine piece of history

This will add something very special to any collection.
